I spoke in a previous blog about Healthy Tips for Long Haul Journeys and my vlog today is on a related theme. I recently returned to Ireland from Brazil in a journey that took me 3 flights and about 22 hours. I tried to complete the long haul trip in as healthy a manner possible while also staving off any possible jet lag.
Read MoreAlmost two weeks after I completed a near 2,000 kilometre cycle around the Republic of Ireland, I’ve documented the top 5 tips that helped me get around this great country on my bike. Some I knew in advance and some I learned along the way. All are equally important, there’s no hierarchy. I have plenty more tips and lessons learned from the trip but I found these 5 to be the most important.
Read MoreThe average commuting time for UK workers is 55 minutes and, according to the Office for National Statistics, our feelings of happiness and life satisfaction decrease with each and every minute. It’s said that commutes between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes have the most negative effect on everyday wellbeing. These facts make for dreary reading – so what can be done to improve your mood on your daily journey to work?
Read MoreMy incredible journey continues. I've now completed 18 days in the saddle and cycled over 1,000 kilometers since I left home. I could write pages and pages about the sights, sounds and people that I've seen and met on the trip so far. My work for the Guinness Quality Team in the evenings continues at pace in the coolest of local bars in the towns and villages where I stay. I could keep writing and I will write properly about the journey very soon but for now a video seems to say so much more. Here's my vlog from today, from Inishmore on the Aran Islands.
Read MoreWeek 2 wasn't quite as full on a week as my first week in the saddle as I took a break for a few days to attend a wedding (and to give my backside a rest), but I still managed to pedal through four days of towns, hills and scenery on the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way in the kingdom of county Kerry. I really do need to write about my experiences on this incredible trip and I will do that very soon, but for now you can enjoy the video highlights of my four days in the saddle on Week 2 of my cycle around Ireland.
Read MoreI left Dublin on Thursday and since then I've managed to clock up 557 kilometres on the bike. The legs are stiff, the body is sore, my backside is killing me but I've never felt so alive. It has been an AMAZING week. I'll write about it properly very soon but for now I'll leave you with the videos of what has been an incredible seven days in the saddle travelling around the Irish coast.
Read MoreThis will either be the greatest trip ever or I have finally gone mad. As exclusively revealed in my last blog I’m undertaking a long bike ride around the coast of Ireland; a cycling holiday and a fitness challenge all in one. The planets have aligned and I’ve been given a window of three or four weeks to pull this off. I may never get this opportunity again so despite the short preparation period, I’m planning on taking off tomorrow.
Read MoreI've been struggling with my office job for a while. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed the work or if I ever did enjoy it for that matter. It doesn't excite me and it doesn't really stimulate me. It can be stressful at times and it can be painfully boring at times. I don’t have any passion for it. I've always heard and read that you should do something you're passionate about and I'm sure what I'm doing is a passion for some people but unfortunately it’s not for me.
Read MoreI’m a big fan of Killarney. I’d say I’ve been to the town at least once a year almost every year of my life. My grandmother was from Killarney so it was a regular holiday destination when I was growing up. As I’ve gotten older I still love to head down south to county Kerry whenever I can to explore the amazing Killarney national park, grab a bite to eat in one of the quality restaurants and then indulge in some modest revelry in the great live music bars at night time.
Read MoreAs most people will know it’s surprisingly easy to neglect your physical health to the point where it becomes more of a habit than actually trying to be healthy. I was without question one of those people. I had the comfort of having always been quite thin all my life, I've never had the added pressure of being overweight and feeling like I "had" to lose weight or appear healthier than I was. The truth of the matter was that I was far from healthy.
