parkHIIT Corporate Challenge

There is so much going on with parkHIIT and in the workplace wellness space at the moment. It’s been a really exciting and very active couple of weeks! Here’s a snapshot of what’s been going on over the past 10 days alone:

  • Both parkHIIT and the Workplace Wellness Ireland community formally joined the Healthy Ireland network

  • parkHIIT Ashtown and Ballsbridge took part in the European Week of Sport and the Dublin Sportsfest

  • The Workplace Wellness Ireland community was featured in the Irish Times last week

  • We took part in the excellent National Fitness Day activities at Dublin Docklands hosted by Ireland Active

  • The first speaker for the next Workplace Wellness Ireland event on November 13th was confirmed

  • My 4 year old took an incredibly active part in the Family Sportsfest at the fantastic Sport Ireland National Sports Campus 😉

If all of that wasn’t enough we’ve only gone and set up the parkHIIT Corporate Challenge.

I've teamed up with a friend of mine, Ronan Mahon of 3XB Training for the challenge. We have a brilliant space in Ballsbridge that’s ideal for what we are planning.

As I always mention when I'm speaking about exercise, the World Health Organisation recommends that adults do at least two resistance training session per week as part of their exercise routine. With that in mind the parkHIIT Corporate Challenge consists of 2 x HIIT resistance training sessions per week at 3XB in Ballsbridge. The challenge will run for 4 weeks and kicks off on Tuesday the 16th of October. The sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 6.45pm.

The goal is to show people that you don't need a gym or equipment to have a great work out and to get into shape. At the same time, we want to make it a fun team event that groups of colleagues or friends of all fitness levels can participate in (individuals can enter too). I love the Grant Thornton 5K and the plan is to make this a resistance training equivalent with "healthy" competition between individuals, teams and companies. It’s the perfect preparation for Christmas party season.

If you work in and around Dublin 4 this of course will be ideal. If you happen to be commuting home in the general direction then it’s a great option too as there’s plenty of parking and facilities available on site. You’ll even skip the worst of the traffic while you’re working out!
