Merry Christmas from Brazil

Merry Christmas

Hello from Florianopolis everyone! A very short post this week to wish all my family, friends and followers a very Happy Christmas. I'm approaching the end of my second month of parental leave. We flew to Florianopolis in the south of Brazil on Thursday after an amazing 6 weeks in Rio de Janeiro. I’ve been to Brazil for New Years a few times before and that’s a really big deal but this will be my first time to celebrate Christmas in this part of the world.

Florianopolis

The big difference with an Irish Christmas as I understand it is that the main celebratory meal usually takes place on the night of the 24th with a lighter lunch to follow on the 25th. Turkey is a staple part of the main meal but there’s no ham included in a standard Brazilian Christmas dinner plus I don’t believe there will be any brussel sprouts which I’m struggling to come to terms with. I’m sure there’s plenty more differences and I’m looking forward to discovering and enjoying them all.

Just so I don’t miss Ireland too much I have packed a large bottle of Irish whiskey to help with the withdrawal symptoms and it should also help me spread Irish hospitality and cheer in a small corner of Brazil this Christmas.

Love from Brazil

It’s been a great year for Office Worker Health since I started the blog back in February. I’m delighted to say I’ve published a brand new article every single Wednesday since I started and I plan to continue with this throughout 2016. Thanks to everyone that’s read, liked, followed, shared and re-tweeted my posts and a huge thanks to everyone that wrote a guest post. The number of unique visitors to the site is growing every month, I’m close to a thousand followers on both Facebook and Twitter and my LinkedIn group is growing and generating discussion all the time. I really appreciate all the support!
